Alessio Pizzicannella is a man inspired by all things visual and musical.
Born and raised in Italy, Alessio moved to London in 1993 to study photography at the London College of Printing. For the past 20 years, his extraordinary photography has captured stunning portraits of some of the world’s most iconic musical artists including U2, The Rolling Stones, Pink, Gwen Stephani, Snoop Dogg, Metallica, and Neil Young for such high profile publications like N.M.E. (The New Musical Express), Times, Guardian, Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone.
In June 2012 Alessio moved to Locarno.
In 2013, Alessio was named the official photographer for the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, Europe’s fourth largest film festival, capturing intimate images many A-list actors including Harvey Keitel, Edward Norton, Christopher Lee, Fay Dunaway, Melanie Griffith, Andy Garcia, and Michael Cimino.
In 2014, Alessio put to work his extensive set experience to fulfill a long-held passion to expand into the film world. He wrote and directed his first short film, COME UN MORTO AD ACAPULCO (LIKE A DEAD MAN IN ACAPULCO), that starred two of Italy’s most well known actresses, Ambra Angiolini and Barbara Bouchet.
The film debuted at the Solothurn Film (Switzerland) in January 2015. It also screened at Genova Film Festival (Italy), Salento FInnibus Sarrae Festival (Italy), and select cinemas in Switzerland. VanityFair and RollingStone both featured the film on their websites.
